MORRISON ICE CREAM - HARVEY, IL - 1936
Man on left was called a "soda jerk"--not because he was a jerk, but due to the manner of mixing soft drinks then. Soda syrup was placed in a glass, then carbonated soda water added at the "fountain." To properly mix the two, one would jerk the fountain handle. He still could have been a jerk, but not this one.
